Parreira takes positive outlook

Bafana boss remains upbeat

Bafana boss remains upbeat

Carlos Alberto Parreira was upbeat after watching his South Africa side play to a goalless draw against Japan on Saturday afternoon.

The best chances of the match fell to the visiting team, but Parreira, who has just started his second spell in charge of Bafana Bafana, felt that his charges put in a reasonable showing.

"Today I think it's alright, not good, but ok," Parreira said after the match. "We didn't manage to win but there were some positives out of the game.

The Brazilian boss has already noted areas that require improvement.

"We need to hold onto the ball more and get inside the box," he said. "Our ball possession must be better."

"But it's a beginning, it's a start, there were some positive points. There's a lot of improvement (we need) to do, but it's ok."

Parreira also saluted Takeshi Okada's Japanese outfit who played some intelligent football at the Nelson Mandela Bat Stadium.

"Japan is a good team. They mark very good and they have good spirit."

Bafana Bafana will reassemble early next week for another international friendly against Jamaica.
