Vladimir Vermezovic has demanded much from his Kaizer Chiefs charges ahead of the side's league opener with Golden Arrows on Saturday.

The Serbian is determined to see Amakhosi make the transition from nearly men to championship winners this season after their third-place finish last time out.

Key players Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Itumeleng Khune have all been retained at Naturena despite interest from abroad and the trio's World Cup experience should serve to boost the squad.

'Shabba' has been handed the vice captaincy, while skipper Jimmy Tau will return to the starting line-up at the Rand Stadium.

The right-back was benched for the MTN8 win over Bloemfontein Celtic as youngster Tlou Molekwane was handed a chance to impress.

But Molekwane picked up an injury in the tie and will sit out on Saturday.

Tinashe Nengomasha, meanwhile, is expected to once again be rested as he builds up his fitness following a botched move to Qatar.

Meanwhile, new Arrows boss Zoran Filipovic is eager to outdo his Eastern European compatriot in his first game in charge of the Durban club.

But he has a selection poser in the form of Siyabonga Sangweni. The defender is one of the key players at Abafana Bes'thende, but has refused to train with the side following his failed move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Japanese striker Norikazu Murakami, however, is on trial with Arrows and could feature in the opener.
