The clash is part of a double header at Cape Town stadium to kick off the new Premier Soccer League season. It marks the debut of the coastal team in South Africa's top flight and their former player admits it is a mammoth task for his charges.
"It doesn't come bigger than this," said Das Neves at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for our guys to make a mark for the rest of the season.
"But having said that, the season has a long way to go and if it doesn't go as I expect against Pirates, then for the next game we will work harder and make sure that we are ready."
Lebogang Mothibantwa and Excellent Walaza are expected to feature after moving on loan from the Buccaneers, but Josephy Kamwendo misses the tie due to suspension.
Ditheko Mototo (one-match ban) is also unavailable, while Posnett Omony and Dirang Moloi are unlikely to be registered in time for the encounter.
Meanwhile, Bucs boss Ruud Krol has a wealth of talent available at his disposal - especially in midfield.
However, he has revealed that his new acquisitions will take time to settle into the squad and will not be guaranteed a starting place.
Lucas Thwala, Gert Schalkwyk and Benson Mhlongo all sit out as they recover from an assortment of injuries.
