Juventus have revealed that Vincenzo Iaquinta will require surgery after injuring his left knee last week.
The striker suffered the injury in training on Saturday and subsequently missed the following day's 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Siena.
The former Udinese ace went for scans and the results have revealed damage to his meniscus.
The 29-year-old is not expected back until the New Year but the frontman will be eager to make a brisk return to make sure he rediscovers his form in time for the World Cup with Italy next summer.
"The tests done have indicated the need for the player to undergo surgery," a statement read on the club's official website.
"The operation will be done tomorrow (Tuesday) in Turin."
Iaquinta has been in good form this term, scoring four goals in eight games in all competitions, and his absence leaves the Old Lady with just three fit strikers.
