Carlos Alberto Parreira has urged South Africans to come out in full support of the national team during the World Cup, saying they need to make the vuvuzela their "12th player".
The horn-like instrument, which has become famous in the run-up to the finals due to its huge noise level, has already annoyed several coaches and teams.
There were even calls to have it banned from stadiums during the tournament, but FIFA has resisted those noises to allow it at games.
Coach Parreira now wants to see it used to their advantage, saying: "We are ready to make the country proud.
"The support, it touched us in the game against Colombia - the excitement, the tension.
"We need the vuvuzela. It is our 12th player and it will help us a lot."
The Brazilian also vowed to make the host nation proud during the June 11 to July 11 finals.
He added: "Our goal is to go as far as possible in the World Cup. Our mission is to make the country proud."
