Parreira: Decision will be difficult

Carlos Alberto Parreira has revealed he is not looking forward to making the final cull to his squad before the World Cup.

The Bafana Bafana boss must axe six players from his provisional 30-man line-up, with Andile Jali already ruled out of the showpiece through a heart condition.

Centre-back Bevan Fransman, goalkeeper Shuaib Walters, winger Franklyn Cale, left back Innocent Mdledle and right-back Anele Ngcongca look the most likely to be dropped, while the Brazilian must make one further cut.

"It is going to be emotional and difficult for me," said Parreira on his decision.

"But it is my responsibility. I feel for the players who will be left out."

The World Cup winning coach, who took over the reigns from his countryman Joel Santana in November last year, has been unbeaten with Bafana since his return to the hotseat. "The players were down when I joined the team, now they are flying high and ready to play in the World Cup," he explained.

South Africa will tackle Guatemala on Monday night, before facing Denmark on June 5 to conclude their preparations for the global showpiece.
