The Cape side had taken the lead ten minutes into the second half when Timothy Batabaire diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper, but the defender's blushes were spared seven minutes later when David Oliveira levelled the score from the spot.
Isaacs and Salmaan King were the most lively players for the People's Team in the opening half, with Isaacs getting in a few of shots on goal in the early stages of the game.
A couple of minutes before half-time the ball broke nicely for the attacker, but he was not fast enough to get past Batabaire, who put up a good challenge.
The first half had certainly been a rather dour affair, the players unable to find inspiration in front of a sparse crowd with less than 500 people turning up for the game.
In the 55th minute, man-of-the-match Isaacs put in a near unplayable cross which was placed in the back of the net for an own goal by Batabaire - a strike that at least injected some energy in the game.
Isaacs, it mist be said, was the one player who showed real class on the night as he constantly provide the Students' defence with an examination of their concentration.
Wits, however, were not going down lightly and they levelled matters in the 63rd minute when Oliveira netted from the spot after goalkeeper Tshepo Motsoneng had conceded a penalty by bringing down Sifiso Myeni.
Oliveira then came close to putting the Clever Boys ahead with a well struck drive shortly after, but Motsoeneng made a good diving save but the hosts were able to raise their game in the closing minutes, and the pressure paid dividends when debutant Gregory Roelf earned an indirect free kick in the box.
Isaacs again showed his supreme talent as he emphatically buried the ball in the top corner from 15 metres to seal the three points and a first win of the season for Boebie Solomons.
