Neither team were able to create any clear-cut goal scoring opportunities in the first half, with much of the exchanges occurring in the centre of the park.

However, Vasco were slightly more purposeful of the two teams and as a result, they earned a few set-pieces in threatening areas.

Vasco striker Sibusiso Zuma tested Helton Da Rocha with a free-kick from just outside the penalty area in the 13th minute, but the Arrows keeper was equal to the task.

However, a short while later Da Rocha was left rooted to the spot when Masibusane Zongo fired a curling free-kick against the upright.

Arrows looked a transformed side after the break. Mlotshwa, a new signing, scored his first in the 53rd minute when Vasco keeper Jason Barnard spilled a cross played into his area, allowing the fleet-footed player to pounce from close range.

Philani Shange and Thamsanqa Gabuza failed to capitalise on one-on-one situations with Barnard shortly thereafter, with the keeper able to get his body in the way of well-struck shots on both occasions.

Mlotshwa bagged his brace in the 68th minute with an authoritative finish after being assisted by Siyabonga Nkosi - securing Arrows' first victory of the season.
