17h26: Both matches have now finished, with SuperSport United and Platinum Stars claiming maximum points. Matsatsantsa showed resolve to hang on to their lead, while Stars were never really tested by a poor Cosmos side. Join us later for the other two matches of the day...
17h25: SuperSport have managed to keep Maritzburg at bay to win their encounter 3-2.
17h23: Platinum Stars have beaten Jomo Cosmos 2-0.
17h20: Maritzburg are piling on the pressure in the final few minutes at Loftus. No equaliser yet, however.
17h16: PLATINUM STARS 2 JOMO COSMOS 0: Ezenkosi's efforts have all been in vain as Stars have scored a second. Some great passing in the final third ends with an easy finish for Luis Renteria.
17h15: Cosmos are trying everything to equalise but it just isn't happening for them.
17h11: SUPERSPORT 3 MARITZBURG 2: Maybe it isn't game over just yet. Bester hits an unstoppable shot into the back of the net which pulls the Kwa-Zulu Natal side back within touching distance. Fantastic finish.
17h06: Sheppard is tormenting the Cosmos defence with his runs down the left flank. Ezenkosi need to quell his threat if they are to get themselves back into the game.
17h02: SUPERSPORT 3 MARITZBURG 1: SuperSport break quickly through Klate who tees up Laffor to smash in his second of the game. I think that is game over now after Maritzburg had mounted something of a comeback.
17h00: SUPERSPORT 2 MARITZBURG 1: Aka makes up for his earlier booking by pulling a goal back for his side.
16h58: Stars blow a great chance to score. Sheppard whips a ball into the box but Henrico Botes connects tamely and his effort is saved. Botes was unmarked an really should have scored.
16h55: Maritzburg's Brice Aka, who has just come on as a substitue, is cautioned for a poor challenge on Maluleke. The frustration of losing is starting to show.
We have an email: The chance from which Lafour score is identical to the one he missed a few minutes before. I think Ntshumayelo must push more forward nd Nkosi back. Ntshumayelo can be more effectin behind the strikers. From BallackJnr, Midrand
16h49: PLATINUM STARS 1 JOMO COSMOS 0: We have a goal at the Moruleng Stadium. Stars' Jospeh Malongoane makes no mistake from close range after Kagiso Thabiso's pin-point cross finds his feet.
16h47: Still no score at the Moruleng Stadium. Both sides are trying but nothing is working out.
16h44: SUPERSPORT 2 MARITZBURG 0: Mahoa whips a ball into the box from the left which Salmon gets his head on to before being taken out by the goalkeeper. The ball falls kindly to Laffor who smashes home from the edge of the box on the half volley. Excellent finish.
16h40: Salmon pulls the ball wide to Laffor who hits a drive just wide of the post. SuperSport are going for the jugular now.
16h36: We are underway in the second half of both games.
16h20: It is half time in both of the matches with Maluleke's late goal the only real talking point of the first 45 minutes. See you in a bit.
16h17: SUPERSPORT 1 MARITZBURG 0: A ball is played over the top of the Maritzburg United defence by Glen Salmon and Jabulani Maluleke beats two defenders before finishing brilliantly.
16h10: SuperSport's Tsietsi Mahoa has been cautioned for a dangerous tackle on James Madidilani. The referee seemingly has no time for poor challenges.
16h07: The match in Pretoria has suddenly become an open affair. Both sides are attacking quickly and throwing men forward in an attempt to open the scoring. End-to-end stuff which is making for a great spectacle.
16h02: Kagiso Senamela has been the stand-out player for Platinum Stars so far. Senamela has threatened throughout the opening 30 minutes and looks the most likely to grab the opener.
15h57: The Team of Choice win a free kick on the edge of the Matsatsantsa penalty area after Rudolph Bester was brought down by Thabo September. The free kick is teed up for Peter Petersen, who sees his shot bounce off Bongani Khumalo and into the path of the unmarked Bester. The Namibian instinctively has a crack at goal but his effort is brilliantly smothered by SuperSport keeper Emile Baron. Great chance for Maritzburg to open the scoring.
15h50: Dillon Sheppard muscles his way into a great position on the left flank but his cross is poor and misses two Stars players in the Cosmos penalty area. The quality of delivery needs to be better if Stars want to open the scoring.
15h46: Platinum Stars are pressing Cosmos back into their own half with some impressive ball retention. After a bright start, Ezenkosi are struggling to contend with their hosts. Hopefully that will not be the story of the entire match.
15h43: SuperSport create their first real chance of the match. Anthony Laffor makes a great run down the right flank and puts a teasing ball into the box. The ball floats to Daine Klate at the back post and the winger tries an acrobatic effort which flies over the bar. Good work from Matsatsantsa.
15h40: SuperSport United are struggling to assert themselves on the game. Maritzburg have clearly come to Loftus with a gameplan and that is to frustrate their hosts - and it is working.
15h37: Jomo Cosmos come close to opening the scoring. Bongani Theletsane hits a fierce drive from the edge of the penalty area but Stars goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini pulls off a fantastic one-handed save. Great play from the visitors. Great play all round really.
15h34: Both games have kicked off.
15h32: Good afternoon everyone. We are a matter of seconds away from kick off. Can SuperSport extend their lead at the top or can Maritzburg cause an upset? Can Jomo Cosmos stop the rot in the other early game or will Platinum Stars continue their run?
