Faouzi Benzarti has taken over as coach of Tunisia following the departure of Portuguese coach Humberto Coelho.
Coelho was dismissed by the Carthage Eagles after they failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup despite going into their final qualifier with a two point lead over Nigeria.
A surprise loss away to Mozambique coupled with Nigeria's win in Kenya on Saturday saw the Tunisia finish second in the group.
Tunisia did, however, qualify for the African Nations Cup finals in Angola in January and Benzarti has been appointed in a caretaker role for the tournament.
The former Libya boss was also a caretaker coach for Tunisia when they hosted the 1994 Nations Cup finals.
